Giving

Typically giving is thought of in terms of what we are “giving to“, based on the causes, missions or organizations with which we identify.

During our Fall 2011 Vision Series, “Radical – Becoming Uncomfortable for the Cause of Christ”, we  came to understand that true Biblical generosity is a mind-set of “giving from“:

“Giving from” our gratitude for all Jesus has given us, including His ultimate sacrifice;

“Giving from” our compassion for others;

“Giving from” our obedience to further the Great Commission;

“Giving from” our desire to be a shining light “on the hill” for the Kingdom;

“Giving from” our willingness to become radical believers who desire to see revival in the 21st century Church;

Is there really anyone or anything else more worthy of our gifts and our life than Jesus?  After all, He owns it all anyway and is watching and waiting for us to steward well that which He has entrusted to us… our lives, our families, our time, our talents, our money…

Jesus said, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where theives do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”  Matthew 6:19-21

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this,” says the Lord God Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”  Malachi 3:10
